Moms Naturally, who are we? Ever since we could reach the kitchen counter, by standing on a chair, our parents encouraged us to work with food. Our great teachers were Mom, Dad and numerous cookbooks! Now that we are moms ourselves we also enjoy having our girls in the kitchen, rolling out cookies, patting down bread dough, or just watching mushrooms saute! Food has been our lives! We wish to thank our families for their continued support in our endeavors and our awesome Creator who continues to fill us with inspiration! We hope that by sharing with you a little taste of our lives, your life will be enriched, naturally! - JBW and KLJ | From Jennifer: I'd like to think I have it all together, that every meal is perfectly planned, prepared, and comepletely healthy - Alas! Not so. Last time I looked in the mirror I was still human. While writing this, my children's supper, although organic, came from a box; my latest brownie experiment went awry when I used the wrong sized pan and brownies oozed all over my oven, filling the house with smoke; and my husband still wrinkles up his nose before trying my newest concoctions. On the flip side, I'm blessed to be a stay-at-home mom of 7 years, I apply a 'do-it-yourself ' approach to living, and friends have said I can take weird food and make it normal. I believe it's important to do our best in life. We shouldn't be afraid to try new things, but we can't agonize over mistakes. My best character trait is that I'm determined, and my spirited nature doesn't take 'no' for an answer. (My dear, patient husband...) - JBW | From Kristen: I decided several years back that if I was going to prepare food every day for my family I was going to make it as interesting as I could for them as well as for me. When I get into a 'food rut' I request every cookbook I can from the library and immerse myself in good wholesome recipes. This is ironic, considering I was the teenager who would tell people that my kitchen of the future would be a phone on the wall with a list of take-out restauraunts (much to the chagrin of my health conscious parents.) Of course my mindset changed as soon as I had my own family. As wife, mom and sole food preparer, I vowed to ban as much pre-packaged, processed food from my home as I could. Yes, we still do take-out on occasion, but my family has unanimously decided mom's food is best! - KLJ |
